Vilnius isn’t exactly a big city, although if you feel like escaping to somewhere quieter, the rich history of Trakai might tickle your fancy. It's nestled between several picturesque lakes and is home to the prettiest castle in Lithuania. It’s just 28 km from Vilnius and getting here by bus is easy.

Historically Trakai is a very important city. Although it's now home to just a couple of thousand citizens, it was once the capital of Lithuania.
The Karaims who once lived here invented a dish called Kibinai. Locals always go to a restaurant to have this dish after a day of sightseeing.
