The last surviving gate of the old city walls and one of Lithuania’s most important religious sites, housing a revered image of the Virgin Mary above the archway. Pilgrims and visitors climb to the small chapel to see the gilded icon, while the gate itself marks the southern entrance to the Old Town. It is a working shrine as much as a monument, and quietly busy throughout the day.
