Gediminas Tower

Old Town  •  ★ 4.6  •  $

Check before visiting. The tower interior has been reported closed to visitors, though no reopening timeline has been published. Castle Hill itself and the views over the Old Town remain accessible. Confirm with the National Museum of Lithuania before making a special trip.

The red-brick tower crowning Castle Hill is the last standing part of Vilnius’s medieval Upper Castle and the symbol of the city. A short climb or a funicular reaches the top, where a small museum and a viewing platform give the best panorama over the Old Town’s spires and the river. It marks the spot where, by legend, Grand Duke Gediminas dreamed of the iron wolf and founded the city.
