It is an important historical monument and even more important for the small Karaim community in Lithuania. There are only a couple of Kenesas in Lithuania and not so many in the whole world so each of them is precious.

Built approximately 100 years ago and transformed into a warehouse during WWII, Kenesa is the temple of the Karaim people. The Karaims are one of the smallest historical ethnic communities in the world, with about 300 members in Vilnius and Trakai.
