Wroclaw's medieval market square is one of the largest and best-preserved in Poland, ringed by pastel merchant townhouses and centred on the soaring Gothic Old Town Hall. It's free to wander at any hour, and the square is genuinely lived-in rather than a museum piece, with cafe terraces, buskers and locals cutting through on their way to work.
Local tip: Arrive early morning or after the tour groups clear out in the evening for the square almost to yourself.
