Quartier Petit-Champlain

Petit Champlain. Quebec city Historic downtown 3 in Quebec City

A cobblestoned pedestrian lane widely called the oldest commercial street in North America, all flower-draped façades, tiny boutiques and cafés. Yes it is postcard-famous, but it is genuinely lovely and free to wander.

Reach it via the funicular or the Breakneck Stairs from Upper Town; it is magical when lit up at night and during the Christmas season.

Local tip: Go early morning or after dinner to enjoy the lanes without the midday crowds.
