Atis Rezistans, Grand Rue (Permanently Closed)

Permanently closed. The Grand Rue yard has been abandoned and inaccessible since 2024. We keep this page because people still look for it, and because what happened here is part of the city’s story.

The Grand Rue sculptors built a celebrated yard of skull-and-scrap assemblage on Boulevard Jean-Jacques Dessalines and hosted the Ghetto Biennale from 2009.

Armed groups occupied the yard and it has been inaccessible to civilians for around two years. The founding artists are dispersed and working elsewhere.

Good to know: The work continues: members exhibit in Pétion-Ville, and the Ghetto Biennale has been hosted abroad since 2025.
