Dome Hotel and Spa

A fifteen-room hotel in a merchant house a few steps from Riga Cathedral, where excavation beneath the cellar turned up fabric dating to the early thirteenth century. The building carries layers of baroque, rococo, classicism, Art Nouveau and Art Deco detail, and the restoration retained a seventeenth-century wooden staircase and sections of painted wall decoration; the present floor plan dates from an 1870 remodelling. Rooms are individually configured and use locally sourced materials. There is a spa, a cigar lounge, a rooftop terrace with views across the old town roofs, and two restaurants, one of them specialising in fish. The setting is quiet but central, close to parliament and the presidential palace.
