A strip of sandstone cliff running along the western edge of the Point Loma peninsula, with a footpath following the top and stairways descending to small coves and tidepools near Ladera Street. There is no entrance fee and no gate. The cliffs are actively eroding and undercut in places; fencing marks the worst sections, but the edge is unstable and falls occur. The southern end rises into a hillside reserve with wider views towards Coronado and, in clear conditions, Mexico. Low tide exposes reef and rock pools, and the water below is regularly surfed. The park faces due west and fills with people in the hour before sunset, when roadside parking along Sunset Cliffs Boulevard becomes scarce.
