Mills 50 District Murals

Mills 50 takes its name from the junction of North Mills Avenue and State Road 50, and since the district's main-street organisation began commissioning work in the 2010s it has accumulated several dozen murals on shopfronts, car parks and side walls. Subjects range from abstract colour fields to portraits and references to the Vietnamese community that established itself here from the late 1970s. The greatest concentration lies between Colonial Drive and Virginia Drive, and the works change as buildings are repainted or redeveloped, so any published list dates quickly. The walk is flat and takes an hour or so at a slow pace, passing grocers, bakeries, bars and record shops. Pavements are continuous on Mills Avenue but patchy on the cross-streets, and traffic on Colonial Drive is heavy.
