A public garden of about five acres on the shore of Lake Maitland, reached down a residential street and easily missed. Bald cypresses and a very large banyan shade most of the site, azaleas flower in late winter and early spring, and a colony of egrets nests in the trees above the water. Its best-known feature is the Exedra, a semicircular monument of classical columns facing the lake, much used for photographs and small ceremonies. There is a short dock, a scattering of benches and a lawn running to the water's edge. Facilities are minimal: no cafe, no playground and limited kerbside parking. The garden opens from morning until dusk and admission is free. It lies roughly two miles north of Park Avenue and is quiet on weekday mornings.
