Murugan Idli Shop grew out of a home kitchen in Madurai whose idlis became locally famous, before the first standalone shop opened there in 1991 and later branches spread across Chennai, including this T. Nagar outlet. It is known for unusually soft idlis served with a spread of different chutneys.
Local tip: It is now a homegrown chain rather than a single family shop, but the idlis are the reason it earns a place here.
