Bar Leather Apron

Bar Leather Apron

A small cocktail bar tucked into the ground floor of an office building on Fort Street Mall in downtown Honolulu, opened in 2015 by Justin Park and Tom Park. It works in the Japanese bartending tradition, hand-carved ice, exact measures and a deliberately quiet room, and has collected considerable international recognition, including repeated listings among the best bars in North America. The list runs from classics to original drinks built on island ingredients, with a short food menu alongside. The room seats fewer than thirty, so reservations are effectively necessary; walk-ins are occasionally possible but rarely at peak times. Downtown empties after office hours, which makes the location feel improbable, but it is a short drive or bus ride from Waikiki and a few minutes' walk from Chinatown.
