Bomonti Flea Market

Bomonti Flea Market is a weekly antiques and second-hand market in the Bomonti quarter of Sisli, on Istanbul's European side, close to the neighbouring Ferikoy district. It runs every Sunday, with stalls setting up from around nine in the morning and trading through to the afternoon, filling up noticeably as the morning goes on. Roughly 200 stallholders lay out second-hand cameras, vinyl records, books, clothing, watches, leather jackets, jewellery, lamps, coins, old photographs and general curiosities, with a mix of professional dealers and people clearing houses. Prices are negotiable and cash is the usual means of payment. Small stands around the edges sell Turkish tea and gozleme, the filled flatbread cooked to order on a griddle, which is the customary way to break up a morning of rummaging. The market sits near the separate Ferikoy organic produce bazaar, and the two are often visited together. The nearest metro station is Osmanbey on the M2 line, roughly ten minutes away on foot.
