18b The Las Vegas Arts District

18b The Las Vegas Arts District

An eighteen-block district south of downtown, running broadly between Charleston Boulevard and Colorado Avenue along Main Street and Casino Center Boulevard, given arts-district status in the late 1990s and now the city's main concentration of galleries, independent shops, breweries and restaurants. Walking it costs nothing. The Arts Factory on Charleston, the district's original anchor, houses studios and galleries open to the public; murals cover much of the surrounding warehouse stock, and antique shops line South Main through the week. First Friday, held monthly, closes streets for an outdoor art market with food stalls and music. Development has accelerated sharply since 2018 and some older tenants have been displaced, which remains a live local argument. It is roughly a twenty-minute walk from Fremont Street.
