The Met Roof Garden Café & Martini Bar

Upper East Side

For a few months each year the roof of the Metropolitan Museum becomes one of New York’s finest open-air perches: a garden terrace looking straight over the Central Park treetops to the Manhattan skyline, with a seasonal contemporary art installation as the centrepiece. Sip a cocktail, wine or house lemonade with a light bite, and it’s all included with museum admission. It runs roughly May to October — come late afternoon for golden hour over the park.

While you’re in the city, pair it with a New York food walking tour.
