Rainbow Street (Skolavordustigur)

Rainbow painted Skolavordustigur street below Hallgrimskirkja in Reykjavik

Skolavordustigur  •  ★ 4.7  •  $

Skolavordustigur, the charming street climbing towards Hallgrimskirkja, is better known these days as the Rainbow Street. Its rainbow-painted surface began as a Pride celebration and became a permanent, joyful fixture that frames the church perfectly at the top of the hill. Lined with design shops, galleries, cafes and the studios of local jewellers, it is one of the loveliest strolls in the city. Walk up on a bright day for the classic shot looking along the rainbow to the steeple, then browse the boutiques on your way back down.
