A 375-foot pedestrian suspension bridge across Kate Sessions Canyon in Bankers Hill, built in 1912 to a design by Edwin M. Capps, twice mayor of San Diego. It was erected so that residents on the western side of the canyon could reach the streetcar lines on Fourth and Fifth Avenues and the schools further east. The timber deck hangs from cables strung between concrete pylons and moves noticeably underfoot, which accounts for much of its local reputation. It became a designated San Diego Historic Landmark in 1977 and is open daily, free of charge. There is no car park, and the surrounding residential streets carry parking restrictions. The canyon below is wooded and quiet.
