Mercado de la Calle Feria

Mercado de la Calle Feria is a covered municipal food market on Calle Feria in Seville, generally regarded as the city's oldest market site. Its origins trace to 1719, when the council established a pavilion for selling bread and meat on land given by the Marchioness of La Algaba; the space was roofed in 1863, and the present building was completed in 1925 after a period of decline, with a full restoration in 1984. It comprises two rectangular pavilions around a central open area, with stalls selling fish, meat, vegetables, fruit, cured meats and flowers alongside newer cafes and prepared-food vendors. Published hours are Tuesday and Wednesday from 12:30 to 18:00, Thursday to Saturday from 13:00 to midnight, and Sunday from 13:00 to 18:00. This permanent hall is a separate institution from El Jueves, the Thursday open-air fair of antiques and second-hand goods held on the same street; the two share an address but not a format, history or trading days.
