Eram Garden traces its layout back to the Seljuk era, though the palace at its centre is Qajar, built for Haj Nasir-ol-Mulk. It follows the classic charbagh design, four quarters divided by channels of running water, and was one of nine Persian gardens UNESCO listed together in 2011.
Local tip: Shiraz University took the garden over in 1963 and now runs it as a ticketed botanical garden alongside the cypress-lined avenues.
