Karim Khan Zand commissioned Vakil Mosque in 1773, right alongside the bazaar that carries the same name, and its forty-eight spiral-fluted columns are the detail most visitors remember. The two iwans and entrance portal are covered in haft-rangi, seven-colour tilework, much of it worked into tree-of-life patterns.
Local tip: Look up at the column capitals for the acanthus-leaf carving repeated down the vast prayer hall.
