Karim Khan Zand ordered Vakil Bazaar built in 1758, taking inspiration from the Qeysarieh Bazaar in Lar, and it took roughly nineteen years to finish. The cross-shaped layout of brick, barrel-vaulted corridors was designed to keep air moving and the heat down, and it still does the job today.
Local tip: Traders sell carpets, spices, metalwork and handicrafts along the same corridors used since the Zand era; it is a genuinely working market, not a recreation.
