In Soviet times Vilnius was considered the most “Western” Soviet city because of its long-haired hippies and ideas of freedom. Nowadays most of the alternative ideas can be found by exploring abandoned areas, checking out street art and interesting buildings, bumping into random statues or even just by meeting some local drunks.
So, if you’ve seen enough churches and cute narrow streets, we suggest you leave the beaten track and discover the other side of Vilnius!
We’ll explore the dodgy area around the station which in the next 10 years will supposedly become one of the most prosperous districts in Vilnius, say hi to Tony Soprano, find out where the statue of John Lennon is hiding and get closer to the locals by taking public transport to some of the sights.
Wear comfortable shoes, come with heaps of positive energy, bring a camera for some unexpected shots and get to know alternative Vilnius!
