Danubiana sits on a narrow spit of land in the Danube at the Čunovo waterworks, about 20 kilometres south of central Bratislava, and its long low building was designed to suggest a Roman galley grounded in the shallows. The museum shows modern and contemporary Slovak and international art, with the upper hall given over to changing exhibitions by international artists and the ground floor to the permanent holdings. An outdoor sculpture park of roughly 8,000 square metres surrounds the building on three sides, with water on nearly every horizon. There is a café on site. Admission is charged and the museum closes on Mondays. Access is by car, by bicycle along the Danube, or by bus.
