A tiki bar on West Charleston Boulevard, opened in 2008 in a former neighbourhood bar and trading around the clock. The interior was built by established tiki carvers and designers, with carved posts, a lava-rock wall, blowfish lamps and no natural light at any hour. Drinks follow the classical Polynesian-revival repertoire, rum-heavy and served in bespoke mugs that can be bought at the bar; the menu marks each drink with a strength rating. Nevada gaming law means video poker machines are set into the counter, a reliable marker of a genuine local bar rather than a themed attraction. It stands about a mile and a half west of downtown on a busy road, so a car or ride is needed. Cash and card are both accepted.
