Beefy King has occupied the same corner site on North Bumby Avenue since 1968 and has changed very little: a short counter, orange swivel stools, a wall menu and a small dining room. The speciality is thinly sliced roast beef, steamed and piled into a soft roll, with pork, ham, turkey and corned beef versions alongside, plus onion rings and a beef broth. Orders are called out and turned round quickly. It trades over the middle of the day rather than into the evening and closes earlier than most restaurants, so timing matters. The site sits between Colonialtown and the Milk District, a short drive or a long walk from Mills 50, and it remains one of the few genuinely old Orlando businesses still operating in its original form.
