Black Rooster Taqueria

A small counter-service taqueria on North Mills Avenue that opened in 2016 and marked its tenth year in 2026. Tortillas are pressed on site and the menu is deliberately short: half a dozen tacos, quesadillas, tostadas and a few sides, with vegetarian options treated as seriously as the meat. It has appeared in the Michelin Guide's Florida selection, which lengthened the queues, though turnover is quick and seating spills onto a covered patio. The exterior carries the murals typical of the district. Drinks are limited to beer, wine and a short soft list. Parking on Mills Avenue is awkward at peak times and the surrounding residential streets are the usual alternative. It suits a light meal before or after live music further along the same road.
