Opened in 1922 and still independently run, the Park Plaza occupies the upper floor above the shopfronts of Park Avenue, Winter Park's main commercial street. It has around two dozen rooms, most small by modern standards, many opening onto a long balcony hung with ferns that looks down on the pavement. There is no pool, gym or car park of its own, and the lift and staircases are original; the appeal lies in the address and the age of the building rather than in facilities. Central Park and the Winter Park SunRail platform are directly opposite, the Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art is a few doors along, and the scenic boat tour on the Winter Park chain of lakes is a short walk east.
