Fleet Farming

An urban agriculture programme run by the environmental non-profit IDEAS For Us, which converts residential front lawns in and around Audubon Park into small vegetable plots tended by volunteers. Its hub is the community garden at the southern end of Audubon Park School, where raised beds, a greenhouse and a propagation area are maintained. Volunteers move between the plots by bicycle on scheduled group sessions known as swarm rides, which are open to the public and free to join, with tools and bicycles provided; the produce is sold to local restaurants and at markets. Plant sales are held periodically at the nursery. Sessions generally run early in the morning at weekends and registration is through the organisation's website. The surrounding Audubon Park Garden District is easily walked afterwards.
