Situated about an hour west of Barcelona is one of Catalonia’s most magnificent geological anomalies. Montserrat, (Serrated Mountain), is breathtaking, and the views from the monastery are not to be missed.
Once we arrive, we’ll wind our way up to the monastery and basilica. You’ll have the opportunity to explore these unbelievable feats of architecture and the incredible plazas, chapels, sanctuaries and vistas.
We’ll see the famed “Black Virgin”, enjoying a walk through the chapels along the way. We'll then take a scenic walk along the “Monumental Rosary of Montserrat”, which leads to the sacred Santa Cova cave. Before departing, we'll enjoy a short performance by the famous Escolania boys' choir in the basilica.
Taking in all the amazing beauty and majesty of Montserrat builds up quite an appetite, so we'll then stop at one of the local restaurants in a village at the base of the the mountain to enjoy a delicious lunch of traditional Catalan cuisine. After lunch, we'll visit a great little winery in the Penedès region for a brief tour, followed by a private tasting of 3–4 of their fantastic wines and cavas, before heading back to Barcelona.
